Holiday Lake 10K, 25K & 50K

The start/finish area is at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in the 19,000-acre Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest. The 4-H Center lies on the banks of beautiful Holiday Lake. The 4-H Center is 15 miles northeast of Appomattox and 37 miles from Lynchburg.

Runners can pick up their bib number Friday evening at the 4-H Center starting at 5:30pm and Saturday morning at 5:00am. Lynchburg-area runners will have the option to pick up their bib Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30pm. Location-TBD. 

Awards will be given for both the 25k and 50k in the following categories:

  • Top 5 Male
  • Top 5 Female
  • Top Masters (Age 40-49)
  • Top Grand Masters (Age 50-59)
  • Top Super Masters (Age 60+)
  • All race finishers (under the 8 hour time limit) 
The top overall male/female runners in the 10k will receive a special award. All other runners in the 10k will receive a finishers award. 

Pizza and soda will be provided Friday evening prior to the pre-race briefing. 

There will be a very light breakfast available for runners only from 5:30 – 6:15 a.m. All special items or food must be provided by the runner. Race will begin at 6:30 a.m.

There will be three aid stations, plus the start/finish area for each loop in the 25k/50k race. Each aid station will have the following:

  • Replacement drink
  • Soda
  • Water
  • A variety of food items

10k runners will have a water cooler available at approx. mile 4 near the State Park.

The 25K and 50K race has a time limit of 8 hours. 50k runners must complete the first loop within 3 hours 45 minutes to be allowed to continue into the second loop.  50k runners must arrive at aid station 3 in loop 2 (21.1 miles) within 5 ½ hours to continue the race.

The post race meal for runners is included in the registration fee. Additional meals can be purchased for $7/person upon race registration. 

All registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, whether to another individual or another race year. Switching from the 50k to the 25k is allowed until 2/1. No partial refunds for the difference will be given.

Training run dates:

12/13/23, 1/13/24, and 1/27/24

All training runs will start from the 4H camp at 7:30am. We will run one loop on the course (~16.5 miles). Aid will be provided at mile 8. Shorter options are available, but will not be marked with streamers.
